Simply Jane first slipped onto the rock radar in 2001 with the release of their debut album "Greatest Hits," which they recorded at their home studio. With some changes in the band line up, they forged ahead and ended up in Cannon Falls, Minnesota. The world famous Pachyderm Studio, host to big names like Nirvana, PJ Harvey, Live and Soul Asylum, became the band's home while they recorded their second album "Juice."
Released in 2003, the single, "I Don't Know" is getting regional radio support from independently owned stations as well as Clear Channel owned stations. Recently, "Juice" has received radio support and reviews in Belgium and Germany. Simply Jane's second album has also attracted attention from entertainment industry leaders. Several songs have been selected and are being considered for upcoming movie soundtracks. The band is now preparing to head into the studio to record what they say will be a "historical" album.
Simply Jane's live performance has been compared to many of the greats . . .in 2004 the band was the opening act in Washington, Montana and Wyoming for legendary rockers LYNYRD SKYNYRD. In 2003 the band did several shows with BOB DYLAN. Speaking with Bob after a California show he told the band, "Your performance INSPIRED me. It took me back to what rock and roll used to be. You serve it up with style and flair." Summer 2004, the band performed on America's largest permanent outdoor stage, at the legendary Buffalo Chip in Sturgis, SD. Simply Jane rocked crowds as large as 75,000 as a support band for REO SPEEDWAGON, HEART, KID ROCK, NICKELBACK and GEORGE THOROGOOD.
Band members Jana Davis (vocals), Steve Hill (guitar), Mike Zapp (keyboards), Jack Shannon (drums) and Shawn Day (bass) all hail from different musical backgrounds, yet ended up in Sheridan, Wyoming where Simply Jane is based.
